Project Overview

Guided by H.E. Minister Dith Tina of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Khmer Foods Group (KFG) has partnered with local farmers’ cooperatives to cultivate three premium rice varieties: SKO, SRO, and OM5451. This landmark contract farming agreement aims to boost high-quality rice production for domestic and international markets while promoting sustainable agriculture. By focusing on these market-preferred varieties, KFG seeks to elevate Cambodia’s standing in the global rice trade, ensuring farmers follow standardized cultivation methods to meet KFG’s rigorous quality and export standards.

Khmer Foods Group Obligations

KFG will supply high-purity seeds for SKO, SRO, and OM5451 varieties to ensure genetic integrity and premium quality. In collaboration with MAFF, KFG will provide technical support, including training on soil management, water conservation, and eco-friendly farming practices. To support farmers’ livelihoods, KFG guarantees purchasing the harvested paddy at a premium price above market rates, fostering economic stability and encouraging adherence to quality standards.

  • Supply high-purity seeds

  • Provide technical support

  • Guarantee premium rate for the paddy

The partnership delivers significant benefits to the farmer families. Farmers’ cooperatives commit to cultivating the specified rice varieties using KFG-provided seeds and adhering to strict guidelines on chemical and pesticide use to meet food safety and export standards. This ensures high-purity, residue-free rice suitable for premium and organic markets, aligning with global demand for safe, sustainable food products and enhancing the reputation of Cambodian rice.

Farmers gain access to training in modern agricultural techniques, pest management, and sustainable practices, enhancing their skills and productivity. KFG’s community initiatives include improved healthcare, education, and infrastructure, uplifting farmers’ quality of life. This holistic approach strengthens rural communities, ensures the sustainability of Cambodia’s rice industry, and fosters long-term economic and social resilience.
